Adopt a Horse
Adoption: Voice For Horses Rescue Network offers alternatives to owners other than slaughter or auction when they are no longer able or willing to care for an equine. By surrendering horse/s into our program, they will never be allowed to be sold, bred or given away without written approval from the board. All horses will be placed into loving, caring and pre-inspected homes. These horses will be monitored 1-2 times per year to ensure the safety and well being of the animal. When you adopt a horse from our rescue you are basically taking a lifetime lease on the horse. The horse once adopted can never be sold, given away, taken to auction/slaughter, surrendered, bred, raced (x-racer) or leased. If an adopter is no longer able to care for the equine, The adopted horse MUST be RETURNED back to VFHRN at the cost of the adopter.

Adoption Process
Please read the following adoption procedures carefully.
Step 1: Every potential adopter must fill out an adoption application this applicatcation gives us information needed to start the review process for adoption it includes. information about yourself, your references, your veterinarian, information about your farm farm or boarding facility, shelter and pasture area, etc. This will be reviewed by a horse helper. We will also need copies of your most recent vet and farrier receipts submitted as well as photos of where the animal will stay. Click on the link above to download an application and send it to murphy-diana@att.net.
Step 2: If you are a local adopter then a VFHRN Representative will call to schedule a home visit, if out of state we may ask your local Humane Society to assist us in the home visit. We will also require photos of barn, stalls, fencing and animals currently in your care which can be submitted via email to murphy-diana@att.net
Step 3: If you are approved, at that time you will then be set up with an appointment to visit the horse or horses who fit your needs. If we feel we do not have a horse that will work for you we will NOT set up an appointment, but will keep your application on file if you request it and contact you should we get one in that does. If you are adopting sight unseen and are out of state then you will be required to submit the adoption fee for your new horse. Understand, you will have to give a horse some time for it to get use to it's new surroundings. Adoption fees are non refundable after 3 days. If the horse does not work out then you can return the horse and we will fit you with another one.
Step 4: It is agreed that if you cannot longer care for the animal then you MUST bring it have it returned at ADOPTER's EXPENSE to the rescue (VFHRN) may update its records and monitor the whereabouts, health and safety of the horse. In the event Adopter cannot or will not continue care for said equine sole ownership and custody of said equine will automatically revert to VFHRN and/or agents and/or assigns. Finally, the undersigned agrees that this animal will not be resold at any type of auction, horse broker, feed lot or slaughter destination, given away, bred, traded, leased or raced.
Step 5 VFHRN will do periodic follow up checks on the said horse, requiring updated photos and or vet and farrier receipts. If for any reason the adopter breaches the contract the horse will immediatly be returned back to the rescue at the cost of the adopter. VFHRN makes every attempt to aliveate a situation should one arise, our goal is to keep the horse in its forever home but at times there are situations that it is in the best interest of the horse to be removed.
