So you want to Volunteer
We need you...
Volunteers at the Voice For Horses Rescue Network are caring people with individual skills, talents and interests who advocate for animal welfare as representatives of the organization's philosophies and beliefs.
In addition, volunteers provide support to supplement and enhance the professional staff, creating a team that works together towards our established vision as well as allow us to extend our valuable community programs otherwise limited by financial resources.
"How can I become a VFHRN Volunteer?"
Volunteers must be at least 10 years old and accompanied by a parent if under age 16. We request that our volunteers commit to at least 10 hours per month for a minimum of 6 months.
All volunteers must complete an online volunteer application. You will then be required to attend an orientation before beginning volunteer service.
Orientations are offered each month, and include important information about our organization's programs and services along with a description of each volunteer opportunity as well as a tour of the facility.
There are several volunteer jobs that require additional training sessions.
"What happens after I submit my application?"
After we receive your completed online application you will be required to attend the next available orientation date. Don't forget... all volunteers under age 16 must be accompanied by a parent or legal guardian (we must also have an online application from the parent or guardian).
All volunteers should be current on tetanus vaccinations and carry health insurance. Please remember that while we take great care to ensure your safety, we are housing animals that are sometimes unpredictable. Good judgment and safe animal handling are a must when volunteering at VFHRN.
"I'm a student in need of service hours for school (or church). Can I do my hours at the VFHRN?"
Unfortunately, due to the vast number of students in need of service hours for school and/or church, we are no longer able to offer student service learning opportunities. However, please check our website for a list of projects and activities that can benefit the animals and earn student hours.
If you have additional questions, please contact Voice For Horses Rescue at [email protected].

BARN BUDDY TEAM
Volunteers at Voice For Horses Rescue Network are utilized in a variety of ways. Caring for the needs of 25 horses is a BIG TASK, one that (VFHRN) Voice For Horses Rescue Network could not do without the help of our Barn Buddy Team. Participating on the Barn Buddy Teasm allows volunteers to interact directly with the VFHRN horses, learning about horse care and developing horse handling skills with a hands on approach.
Each day Barn Buddy Volunteers assist VFHRN Barn Staff with a wide variety of chores, including:
- feeding and watering horses
- leading and grooming horses
- cleaning stalls, paddocks, and aisle ways
